Yamen Site in Linjin Town of Linyi County is based on the national key cultural relic protection unit—yamen of Yuan Dynasty. It is developed as a cultural tourism scenic spot with cultural characteristics under the premise of effective protection.

[General situation of Yamen Site in Linjin Town]

Yamen Site in Linjin Town is located on the north side of Tangbo Street (also known as government road) in Linjin Town, southwest of Linyi County, Shanxi Province. Linjin Town, known as "Sangquan" in ancient times, is located 20 kilometers away west of Linyi County, with convenient transportation. To the north lies Taihuan area of E’mei ridge, to the south are numerous peaks of Zhongtiao Mountain, to the east are vast green fields, to the west are torrential waters of Yellow River. The mountains and rivers are beautiful, and talented people come forth in large numbers here. It is the center of transportation, culture and education, medical treatment and trade in the western half of Linyi County.

Sitting north and facing south, Yamen Site in Linjin Town covers an area of 16000 square meters. According to Records of Puzhou Prefecture of Qianlong edition, it was originally built during years of Da’de (1297 ~ 1307) of Yuan Dynasty, and was rebuilt during years of Hongwu, Hongzhi, Jiajing, Longqing, Wanli of Ming Dynasty and Kangxi of Qing Dynasty. According to Republic of China edition of Linjin County Annals, governors in the 5th year (1879), 21st year (1895) of Guangxu, the 1st year (1912) and 9th year (1920) of the Republic of China rebuilt the Yamen site . The existing buildings of the Yamen Site include the hall, the second hall, the third hall (upper room) and the detention center for prisoners (it became the official detention center in 1950s). The hall is a relic of the Yuan Dynasty and the rest was built during the Republic of China. It is one of the earliest existing yamen sites in China. On June 25, 2001, the State Council announced it as a national key cultural relic protection unit.

[Ancient City Wall of Linjin Town]

45 meters north of the third hall (upper room) of Yamen Site in Linjin Town, there is a section of ancient wall, which is 280 meters long, 8.5 meters wide and 8 meters high. It is now a rammed earth wall. The outside brick is no longer in existence and the setting time is unknown. The outer side of the wall is a moat (also called Jiulong canal).
