Yuncheng Advanced Normal College is a public full-time advanced normal college, officially approved by Shanxi Provincial People’s Government and Ministry of Education. As a high standard, modern normal college, it is situated in university town of Shun emperor mausoleum scenic area in Yuncheng, next to Yuncheng University and Yuncheng Vocational Nursing College, covering an area of 450 mu.
The college grew out of Yuncheng Normal School and Jishan Normal School, which were famous in Yuncheng and Shanxi province. For more than one century, it has educated dozens of Party, government, and army cadres and thousands of excellent primary and middle school teachers, such as the first ambassador to the US Chai Zemin, former deputy secretary of the State Council Zheng Siyuan, the standing committee member of CPPCC, vice-president of Chinese Writers Association, vice-governor of Shanxi province Zhang Ping, former political commissar of Chengdu military area general Zhang Zhijian. After the reform and opening-up, the college has been insisting on seeking survival with quality, seeking development with management, carrying out scientific research as the forerunner, and adhering to employment-oriented education, to realize its fundamental target of cultivating primary school teachers at college level with spirits of innovation and abilities of practice.
