Yuncheng Culture and Art School was founded in 1973 and is the only public artistic special secondary school in Yuncheng. During 46 years since its establishment, the school has made outstanding contribution for cultural inheritance and development of Hedong area and Shanxi province. 11000 students have graduated from the school, among them, 4 people have won “Plum Blossom Award” and 42 people have won “Little Plum Blossom Award” of national drama. It has trained more than 800 artistic students to study in Tsinghua University, The Central Academy of Drama, Beijing Dance Academy, etc., and has selected and sent more than 700 backbone of art to literary and artistic group above provincial level. The school has won the honors of “Provincial Civilized School”, “Yuncheng Advanced Unit for Propagandizing Ideology”, “Yuncheng Advanced Unit for Vocational Education”, “Yuncheng Labor Model Unit”, and “Collective Third Merit for Shanxi Labor Competition Committee”, etc. It has been awarded the title of “National School-running Units with the Most Artistic Characteristics” by National Institute of Education Sciences.
Under new leadership, the school is dedicated to overcome the difficulties, focusing on the quality of teaching, integrate industry with education, and remold its social image. Since July 2018, it has won national awards for three times, provincial team awards for three times, and city-level award for one time. On May 2019, it has won first prize in opera of secondary vocational school in National Technical Ability Contest of Higher Vocational Colleges on behalf of Shanxi province, realizing the break of winning first prize in National Technical Ability Contest. The faculty has been awarded many honors, including 7 national honors, 24 provincial honors, and 8 city-level honors. 9 teachers have been selected into “Sanjin Talents” supportive plan.
